Advancing Women of Color in the Military and Small Business Community

Women represent 16 percent of the active duty military population, up from 9 percent in 1980. Similarly, women-owned businesses are growing at a rate of 5 percent and produce estimated revenues of $1.9 trillion. As of September 2020, there are an estimated 13 million women-owned businesses in the US with women of color accounting for nearly 90 percent of the new women-owned businesses annually. To honor Veterans Day, Luminary and JPMorgan Chase are hosting an engaging conversation with women small business owners from the military community. Cate Luzio, Founder & CEO of Luminary will lead the conversation with Zephrine Hanson, Founder of Hampden Farms, Mecca Nelson, Founder of The YOMA Method, and Isha Taylor, Founder & CEO of Breaking the Psychle exploring their unique experiences as women of color, navigating entrepreneurship.
