“Revolution is not a one time event” — Audre Lorde
Join them as they award Arwa Michelle Mboya with the inaugural Bold Prize on Wednesday, February 12th at 6 PM in New York City
This celebration is in proud partnership with the Harnisch Foundation and features Feminist Press Executive Director Jamia Wilson with Loretta Ross, Soraya Chemaly and Sabrina Hersi Issa contributors to the new anthology Believe Me: How Trusting Women Will Change the World.
Arwa Mboya is a graduate student who bravely stood up for the safety of her community when she called for the immediate resignation of now-former MIT Media Lab Director Joi Ito. Arwa’s bravery follows the arc of many black women who lead out front and endure exhausting pushback. There is a cost to speaking out and for perhaps the first time, many of us are awakening to the reality that in order to create change, one must call upon bravery again and again and again.
February 12th is a celebration to elevate and champion courage, integrity and leadership.
There are models to building a better world and we can begin to build together by raising up a new constellation of leaders like Arwa Mboya.
So join us in celebrating this bold leader who models courage, inspires us to not settle for the world as it is and uses her voice to build the type of world we deserve.
Food, drink and joy will be served.
